Big man little man

An old photo, taken when work on the Kathipara grade separator was still going on; didn't notice the person behind Nehru's statue earlier - somehow it seems to underline how towering JN's presence had been. The statue itself was quite an eye-catcher at the roundabout. But now, the Big Man is stuck somewhere amidst the whorls of the flyover and nobody notices it these days... or do you?

Maybe they should change its location then. It would be a shame if no one sees it or can even go near it.

You did notice it :-)

Maybe they might relocate it one day.

It happens that old statues, and not so old ones, are overwhelmed by new soulless constructions. This is so sad.

@ Hilda: I'm sure they will - just haven't figured out where to put it, I guess.

@ Keropok Man: It is getting rather difficult to, now!

@ Vogon Poet: True. And welcome to Chennai - I'm sure you can find some not-so-sad posts too, here:)

@ lviss: Very true. He was for all of India; indeed. for all of the world!

@ lviss: No, that's part of the statue - a dove flying from his hand!

greatness reduced by modern times. strangely, what he gave india - modernisation (factories and dams are the temples of modern india) is what dwarfs him today....

@ Moochhi: But don't you think pan-nationalism will revive? I still hope!
