Arriving hungry

Quick, which is the first eatery one sees on coming out from Chennai Central Station? If you answered "Buhari's", you are indeed a true Madrasi! They have been in Chennai since 1951 with their flagship restaurant on Mount Road. Not sure when the Central Buhari came up, but well, it has been around for as long as I can remember. Other hotels may have come up (and some gone, too), but Buhari is the place for that last biryani before getting into the unreserved coach to Jhumritalaiya or wherever!

You go to a hotel to satisfy your hunger? Just kidding. It must have a well-regarded restaurant.

Before I became a vegan Buhari was a favourite place to have briyani.

@ Jacob: Ah, you're being too picky... Hotels in India don't need to have beds, but they must serve food! Just wait until I post about 'Military Hotel' :)

@ lviss: And you are missing it, aren't you!

The story goes that at one point of time Item #65 on Buhari's menu card was a special type of chicken dish...and the rest is history..Chicken 65 entered our pop and culinary lexicon :)

@ Nanamar: Yes, have heard that one, but haven't been able to make up mind if it is factual or an urban legend!
